Graeme Mc Dowell’s fabulous win in Dubai should fill us all with hope!  We too can do it!  It gave him his first European victory since 2014. He is now back in the top 50 in the world.  Maybe we should have a chat with the PRO David Ryan and see if we need to make modifications on our swing.  Make use of our Driving Range which is well marked and very accessible.

Ladies Golf

Twenty three ladies played on Thursday.  The longer days and warmer temperatures are making it easier for more ladies to play. The winner was Caroline Maher H/C 19 with 25 points.  Pauline Mulcahy H/C 28 came second with 23 points.  Imelda Buckley H/C 20 came third with 21 points. At the week-end our winner was Breda Keating H/C 19 with 26 points which was a super result.  Coming in closely behind was our Lady Captain Susan Carey H/C 19 with 25 points.  In the Race to Paddy’s Day, Caroline Maher and Kathleen Alton both qualified. This competition can be played any day.  €5 to enter and €3 re-entry.  There is no restriction on the number of re-entries. Senior ladies play every Monday at 10.

The ladies are well ahead with their plans for Valentine’s Day.  They are having a scramble on Thursday February 13.  They have a very appropriate sponsor with Murphy Candles. So ladies if you need help to create an atmosphere with candles, come along and put your name down for this event in the Ladies Locker Room and you could win some beautiful, elegant and scented candles.

On Sunday February 16 there will be a Mixed Scramble with a shotgun start.  This is being kindly sponsored by Barry Connolly.  This is a fun event and a great way to mix and mingle with new and not so new members!  Please enter in the PRO Shop.

Find the Golfball

This week’s winner was Hannah Mc Loughlin who won €20.  The Jackpot next week will be €1940 which is a nice amount to win for only €2 entry.  All entries can be made in the bar anytime.
