Ladies Captains Prize A Huge Success
The biggest day in the Ladies calendar, the Lady Captain’s Prize, took place on Saturday. Lady Captain Marie Devitt had a beautiful display of jewellery for prizes. The winner, on countback, was Caroline Maher (H/C 25) who scored 68 nett. Caroline said that after having eight shots on the 9th she felt the balloon was burst! Her playing partners Cathy O’Gorman and Linda Harris continued to encourage her by having their own matchplay. They really enjoyed the round and were thrilled when they realized they had the winner. They were the final group playing. Julie Connolly was leading all day with 68 but was piped on the back nine. Julie and Caroline have been regular playing partners and Caroline would attribute much of her love of the game to Julie. Gross winner was Caitlin Fitzgerald. Third was Joanne Quaid with 70. A score of 72 gave Ann Fitzgerald the Past Captain’s Prize, Patrica Brown in 4th place, Phil Barry 5th and Marie Reidy 6th. Catherine English had the Best Front 9 and Mary Lyons had the Best Back 9. The Committee Prize went to the Vice Captain, Susan Carey. Monday morning ladies prize went to our newcomer Fiona Rea.
Our Lady Captain Marie Devitt had a wonderful evening afterwards in the clubhouse. President Jim Cantwell introduced Marie and thanked her for all her work and dedication. Captain Paul Eivers said that Marie and he had become great friends over the year and that he appreciated her enthusiasm for the club. Marie went on to say she had a great year and learned a lot about golf. She thanked the groundsmen for their great work on the course. She paid special tribute to the Bar and Catering Manager Keith and his team particularly Lori and Kay. Most importantly she enjoyed the honour of being Lady Captain and wished the incoming captain Susan Carey all the best for the next year.

Morrison Brothers Claim Irish Open Pro Am
Team BMW, three of our very own, Led by Gary Morrison from Morrison BMW Cahir and his two brothers Niall Morrison from Morrison Pharmacy and younger Brother Ian claimed the 2019 Irish Open Pro Am with PGA professional Brandon Stone.
It was a special moment for the Morrison’s with their attachment also to Lahinch golf club. The former Cahir Park Golf Club assistant PGA professional Walter Doyle was manning the range and many members watching on. The day was unusually calm for Lahinch and some holes in and the Morrison family home sitting in the backdrop of the course, Local Cahir boy, Ryan McGuire was spotted with his Dad Kevin McGuire JNR in the crowd following Team BMW. They followed the ropes, shot by shot chatting away to the team.
PGA Bandon Stone invited Ryan to take a putt for him and walk the fairways with BMW. A day Ryan will never forget.
Well done to all involved.
