Ladies

Easter should be renamed for Kathleen Lonergan! She was on the winning team in the Easter Monday Scramble. She won the Easter Raffle and is anxiously looking for ideas on how to use chocolate. She won €20 in last week’s Find the Golf Ball.  Well done Kathleen!

We could have done with Teresa Mannion in Cahir Park on Friday afternoon to give us advice and commentary on the weather as the ladies fielded the Minor and Challenge Cup teams.  The Minor team was Chris Noonan, Ann Fitzgerald, Caroline Maher, Ger Lyons and Noreen Hally.  They played Castlemartyr and lost.  Four matches were brought to the 18th and one match to the 20th.  Unfortunately, Castlemartyr were the winning team. The Challenge Cup team of Pauline Mulcahy, Breda Hickey, Rosemary Maher, Marie Reidy and Kathleen Alton played Clonmel and proved they were up to the challenge!  The next round will be against either Youghal or West Waterford.  We wish them well.

Linda Harris made history in our Thursday competition. She won with 40 points, seven points ahead of Kathleen Lonergan.  Linda’s handicap was cut again bringing her reduction to 11 in eight days! Linda is looking forward to the challenges ahead!

Sunday the weather was more onside and we had a fine turn out. The course was in great shape and Kathleen Alton came out on top.

We plan to resume 3 Ball Mixed Scrambles on Monday nights.  Details next week.

Men’s

The latest instalment of the ABP Qualifier saw Morgan Lyons clinch the GPS Watch with a winning score of 39pts. Second place was Mark Jordan with 36pts narrowly pipping Norman Jones who had 35pts. The weekend brought storm Hannah and great credit must be given to Decky Walsh and his team for Trojan work in order to clear a path for the determined golfers who braved the wind. The winner’s enclosure was occupied by Thomas Hegarty in 1st place with an excellent 41pts – great shooting. Second place was a closely fought battle with 4 players scoring 38pts. Clinching 2nd place on a countback was Kian O’Reilly. In third was Ken Cotter slipping in on another countback. Adrian Lonergan took home the Gross prize.  Great Golf lads. Big congratulations to our Handicap Secretary Paul Touhy on his victory in the Mountrath Scratch Cup in what was described as stormy conditions. Well done Paul. Next week sees another opportunity to Qualify for our ABP Final with the Wednesday qualifier. The weekend brings the Open Singles Stableford on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Happy Golfing Folks
