President’s Prize Weekend Wins For Donal and Deirdre

Congratulations to Paul Adamson on his wonderful President’s Prize weekend. It was hard to get the weather to play ball, but the show went on with a great turnout taking to the fairways. The live scoreboard added to the atmosphere in the Clubhouse as people watched on when scores were returned.

The conditions proved tough for many, but Kieran Davis returned the leading qualifier score after the 18 holes with a score of 41 points. Super shooting. There were 12 more holes to go with the 12-hole playoff taking place on Sunday evening, followed by the prize giving in the Clubhouse, where President Paul was delighted to be joined by his wife Mary.

In the men’s side of the competition Donal Mullane had 3 points to spare recording 70 points over the 30 holes to seal the win. Brendan Halpin secured second place with an impressive 67 points while Darren Sweeney took home the gross prize. Third prize with a score of 64 points went to Tim O’Donoghue while fourth prize was captured by Aidan Dilworth with 62 points (CB). The past president’s prize was won by Jim Cantwell, the best senior prize went to Pat Slattery and the best junior prize was won by Kalle Hogan. Longest drive and nearest the pin went to Darren Sweeney and Barry Gill respectively.

In the ladies’ side of the competition Deirdre O’Neill piped Suzie Burke on a countback to win first prize after both ladies finished on equal scores. Excellent shooting ladies. Julie Connolly secured the gross prize while Breda Keating who was only one point off the countback placed third. A very close affair. Fourth place was won by Chris Noonan. The best senior lady prize was picked up by Ann Mulcahy. Longest drive and nearest the pin both went to Susie Burke.

Well done to all the prize winners. The conditions were not easy and a massive thank you to all the grounds staff that ensured the course was in top condition despite the rain.

Many thanks to our wonderful bar and restaurant staff, Kate in the office, our team in the Pro Shop along with our committees and many volunteers. Each and every one of you helped make this a special weekend.

Music by Tigger Warning concluded the weekends festivities when our members and guests got their dancing shows on.
