Congratulations Imelda
The All-Ireland Final of the Bronze Medal Competition was played at Headfort GC, Kells, Co. Meath on Wednesday and Cahir Park Ladies were very ably represented by Imelda Buckley, who had qualified from Munster Final last month. Imelda, again, played great golf and though she did not feature in the prizes, she was the pride of Cahir Park Club.
Thank you, Imelda. You always lead by example. Congratulations on your success throughout 2023 and all the previous years.
Tuesday Ladies Scramble
Another well organised 12 Hole Champagne Scramble on Tuesday 3rd October and the winning team was Mary Cotter, Breeda Wall, Betty Buttimer and Ger Lyons with a score of 61 pts.
Rain, rain, rain
Unfortunately, the Ladies 18 Hole S/F Hamper No 2 did not proceed on Thursday due to weather conditions. Better luck next Thursday 12th and the competition will continue over Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Entry, no Re-entry.
Saturday/Sunday 7th/8th October
18 Hole Singles Stapleford
Fantastic success again by Julie Connolly playing off H/C 16 and winning with 42 pts. Kathleen Lonergan kept up her good run and on H/C 20, shot 36pts to take second place.
Great scores Ladies. Congratulations.
Denis O’Mahony, R.I.P.
It was with deep sadness the death of Denis O’Mahony was announced to Members this week.
Denis, formerly of Bantry, West Cork, was a founder member of Cahir Park Golf Club in 1968. The Course started with 9 Holes.
Denis served on many committees throughout the years and was a deservedly proud Club President in 1995 when the second 9 Holes of the Course were opened.
Denis served a second year of Presidency in 1996 and was among the founders of the Seniors Group in 1997.
Always regarded as a person who gave solid advice, he was at the heart of all matters pertaining to golf over the 60 plus years he played.
Denis recalled many of his great memories of golf and the Club in August 2022, at a reception in the Clubhouse, when he was honoured as a Founder member, by Cahir Park for his dedicated service to the Club.
Denis O’Mahony will always be remembered with gratitude for all his good deeds.
May his soul rest in peace.
Deepest sympathy is extended to his wife Anne, son Gary and daughters Jean, Denise and Claire and to the extended O’Mahony Family.
