The Mary McKenna Cup
Our ladies travelled to Kinsale last Thursday and played the home team in what was horrendous weather. Unfortunately they have it all to do in the second leg at home, trailing 3-1.
Mens
Paddy Caplice Memorial Cup
Our fourth Golfer of the Year completion took place last week in the form of the Paddy Caplice Memorial Cup, a stroke play from the blue markers. The deserving winner with a fine score of 65 was John T Quirke, followed home closely by Diarmuid Healy (66) and Kieran Fleming (67). The gross prize was won by Emmet Leahy (70).
Prize Giving
Unfortunately the planned prize giving for April winners had to be deferred due to the unavailability of many recipients. We’ll rethink it!
Mixed Foursomes
Our Mixed Foursomes travelled to Tipperary GC last Saturday evening to take on the host club in the first round of the regional competition. Unfortunately it was not to be. Nevertheless we thank Liam and Cathy, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Declan Walsh, Patricia Brown, Paul Tuohy, Kathleen Alton, Peter Meaney, Susan and Eoin Carey and the entire panel for their time, commitment and effort in flying the Cahir Park flag.
The Fred Daly
What a return to inter club golf for our Junior Fred Daly team with a fantastic victory over a very determined Thurles GC team last Friday. The match was a rescheduled fixture following a previous postponement due to bad weather. The boys put up a tremendous and nail biting performance to win it on the first playoff hole following an initial draw… match play at its best!
