With four Seasons of weather recorded in one week, Course Staff thrilled with all the rain, Golfers wishing for sunshine and dry Greens, June turned over to July and the great Horizon Irish Open dawned. Cahir Park Golfers played their own ‘Irish Open’ at home this weekend while many colleagues represented Club with valour in AIG Competitions.
Ladies Junior Foursomes
Cahir Park Ladies enjoyed great success over Youghal Golf Club Ladies at Youghal Golf Club on Saturday 2nd July. The pairings were Caitlin Fitzgerald and Susie Burke, Michelle Keating and Joanne Quaid, Caroline Maher and Kathleen Alton. The first two teams both won 5/4 resulting in third team being called in. Managers of the Team are Susan Carey and Mary Lyons and the Subs for team are Julie Connolly and Susan Carey. Cahir Park ladies are now through to East Munster Final in Tramore v Lee Valley G.C. on Saturday 16th July. Best wishes to all the Panel for continued success.
Open 3 Ball Champagne Scramble played 30th June
The sunshine delighted everyone on Thursday and there was a wonderful entry for our June Open Day. Beautiful prizes were very kindly sponsored by John Quirke Jewellers. With teams from Newcastle West, Doneraile, Slievenamon etc., the Scramble was hotly contested.

9 Hole Stapleford Qualifying Competition 27th June
Congratulations AGAIN to Mag Tobin (26) who won last Monday’s competition with 22pts. Mag is a consistent supporter of the weekly 9 Hole challenge and now a consistent winner. Well done Mag and to all the Ladies who participate each week and best of luck in Ladies Captain Margaret Gill’s Prize 9 Hole Competition to be played for on Thursday 7th July.

Another successful day for Carrie Healy (37) winning with 37pts. Carrie is now a regular on the Winners list and playing great golf.
Australian Spoons Qualifier
Congratulations to Norma O’Brien (22) and Chris Noonan (30) who will represent Cahir Park in Australian Spoons Regional Competition Area Final to be played at Castlemartyr Golf Club on 19th July. Playing off H/C 25, the Ladies returned 43pts and are wished a great game and success on the 19th.
Ladies Intermediate Team
Next outing against Templemore G.C at home in Cahir Park on Sunday 17th July. This is East Munster Quarter Final . Good Luck Ladies.
Ladies Captain Margaret Gill hosts her Prize Day:
The very best wishes of every Club member goes to our Captain Margaret Gill for a very special day on Saturday 9th July when the Ladies play 18 Hole Stroke Competition and challenge for her special Prize. A wonderful day of golf, family and friends, food and entertainment and in the promised sunshine for next weekend is eagerly anticipated. Draw for playing partners will be made on Thursday 7th July. There is a Men’s 12 Hole competition as part of the Prize Day on Saturday from 3.30pm.

Cahir Park Ladies play Newcastle West Ladies in the next round of the ever popular Mary McKenna Diamond Trophy competition at home on Monday afternoon, 11th July. TeeTime reserved from 1pm. Best wishes Ladies!
Barton Shield
A very competitive match on Saturday 2nd July at Cahir Park saw home team come out on top over a strong Tramore G.C. team in the East Munster semi-final of Barton Shield.
Emmet Leahy and Ian Flannery were well supported by Niall and Gary Morrison with the latter pair winning the match for Cahir Park on the 19th Hole. Managed by Niall Morrison, Cahir Park will play in the District Final at a venue and date to be advised this week when opposition decided.
All Ireland Fourballs
Great success for Cahir Park on Friday evening 1st July when the All Ireland Fourballs team won the East Munster Quarter Final 4:1 over Mitchelstown . A Semi-Final awaits against the Winners of Dungarvan v Fermoy.
The winning team comprised: Michael O’Donnell and Kevin Walsh, John McGrath and Paul Keating, Colin Allen and John Barry, Don Quill and Jimmy McCarthy, John Ryan and Kevin McGuire(Snr). Team Managers are Richie Fitzgerald and Vincent Bradshaw. Fantastic result and congratulations to all.
Cullen Cup
The match against Curragh Golf Club is rescheduled for Sunday 10th July with Home and Away arrangements. The very best wishes for success to Team Panel and Managers, Chris Noonan and Sean Casey.
Irish Mixed Team
Hard luck befell the Irish Mixed Team on Monday evening 27th June when they fought valiantly against a very strong Thurles Team at Thurles Golf Club. The Panel continues to represent the Club in other AIG and Interclub matches and no doubt will regroup again for the 2023 season.
Congratulations to all the Players and Managers of all the Cahir Park Teams and thank you for all the time and effort you give to the Club.
